A home without a reading nook is incomplete. Everyone deserves a cozy private and quiet corner in the house to de-stress after a hectic day.

For the book readers, there is no better place in the whole universe than a private corner in the home where they can sit and enjoy their me time. A reading nook is not only for reading, it is a place to unwind and relax and feel the happiness with small things. Sit and breathe and feel the joy. You don't require lot of space to create one, even small space can be a perfect spot. Make it as cozy as possible, think what makes you happy and bring them in your private space.

There are different ways in which nook can be created. Make it near to your bed or a window or in your living area. I have made my corner in the bedroom. Now the important question what all is required to set up the best corner. The essentials are:

1. Books- with no explanation, books are must.

2. The perfect seat- keep a bean bag or a comfortable chair with a wrap up. You may also set up a floor sitting as per your taste.

3. The perfect light- keep a lamp which gives the best light and vibe.

4. Small table- a table to keep your writing and reading stuff.

5. Plants- plants can be kept anywhere and are the best way to decorate the boring area.

7. DIY stuff- I am a DIY person and have kept lot of it in my private space.

I am free from the hustle bustle of life. A couple of months ago, I was into full time corporate setup. A dream life, which every professional dreams of. But this life wasn't making me happy within. I was not able to identify my WHY. WHY I am not liking my career. The career, which I used to enjoy and relish and which gave me everything I wanted and dreamt of in my childhood days. The big dream of becoming a professional, having a chauffer driven car, travelling the world, sitting and advising in the Board Room. I will be honest, I lived that dream to the fullest. God was kind and shower me with whatever I wanted. So was it only this which I want from my life? From some time I was not feeling fulfilled living my dream life. So on a whim, I decided to quit my work life to concentrate on my feelings, what they want from me and why are they not letting me to be focused. I know, some of my readers may think that it was stupid of me to leave the job. This is how I am, I don't know if this trait is good or bad but yes I believe in taking quick decisions.

This decision was taken few months back. I want to focus on what makes me happy. Is staying at home will make me happy or I am overthinking. And yes I found my WHY. Many of the readers who have read the book FIND YOUR WHY would connect with this.

Yes I love saying at home, taking care of my family though my husband always say I am more fussy being at home (his thought process works that way, typical Virgo man who needs perfection in everything and me being a taurean women can be hard stubborn on quick decisions). I have started travelling, socializing, doing gardening, blogging. I did what makes me happy. I dint gave a second thought to my decision but I also understand its not easy for everyone. For me, present is all I have, I am not a firm believer of future. I am living my life to make my present happy. I cannot wait for my retirement age to live my life. Who knows how much I will live. So its all about how I am making my present beautiful and accomplished.

This is a phase which I am enjoying to the fullest. I don't want to regret for not living it if I get a feeling to go back to my corporate life again, But at the moment, its not what I want for my present.

Apparently in today's life it seems impossible to feel positive daily. So much stress and no work life balance. But if you start finding happiness in small things, it is possible to feel positive. Your mind has the power to control thoughts, so why not make efforts to think positively. Positive thoughts create positive emotions and positive emotions leads to a positive mindset. If you feel happy, your surroundings will be happy and thought process will also work that way. Its not always big monetary things that can make you fulfilled even small gestures can create happiness. You always try to control life and cry for things which you do not have. This doesn't help in anyway to come out of sorrow/grief/loneliness, instead you are more filled with negativity in life. Life is too short to live with regrets and bad memories. it is unpredictable and never goes the planned way. So stop planning and start living. Do the things which makes you happy. Forgive and Forget and always smile. You never know if you are blessed to see the next second of your life or not. Try to find happiness in whatever you do and definitely you will feel the difference in quality of your life.

Try these few things which can make you happy and can give your daily dose of happiness.

1) Playing with your child

2) Morning Walk

3) Taking care of potted plants

4) Writing

5) Reading good book

6) Keeping a Pet

7) DIYs

8) Baking

9) Watching your favorite show

10) Decluttering your house

11) Driving

12) Drop and pick up of your child from school

13) Shopping

14) Staying awake whole night for your me time

Last but not the least SMILE a Big SMILE should always be on your pretty face.

How you can pass your time to beat the boredom mid flight. Do check out how I  make my flight time pleasant . Consider trying these few to have a good relaxing flight time.

2. Read Book- carry a book with you which for the long time was in your book shelf and you were not able to take time out to read. Flight time can be the best time to read.

Handbag essentials when travelling with kids

"TRAVELLING MAKES EVERYONE HAPPY", but the experience of travelling may differ when you have kids. It needs lot of planning and if not planned carefully it can be stressful and can become a "why we came out of home" moment.

The biggest challenge is Air Travel and question pop up what to pack in handbag and how to keep the kids occupied at Airport and in flight. I have maintained a detailed list on travel essentials which are required to be in the handbag when travelling with my daughter. This helps me to make her travel and most importantly my travel fun. I hope this will help you also in planning your next trip.

1) Few Favorite Toys- Few means few. I am not in favor of keeping large sack of toys in   handbag. Kids don't play much with old toys and they get bored easily. So keep only few. Always remember less is more when travelling with kids.

2) Sipper Cup/ Water Bottle- Required with no discussion.

3) Socks- Long flights can be cold, so to keep feet warm socks are must.

4) Extra Pair of Clothing- Kids can get stains anywhere anytime, so do not take risk.

5) Snacks- I carry home made muffins/raisins/Fruits. Always keep dry items.

6) Small Blanket- to make kid sleep and feel cosy.

7)Medicines- basic medicine for fever, band aid. Full first aid kit is not required.

8) Tissue Paper and Wipes.

9) Books/ Crayons/ Coloring Books/ Writing Practice Books- they keeps kids engage.

10) Diapers- if not toilet trained.

11) Bibs

And most importantly one cute and light backpack for the child to carry sunglasses, hat, favorite soft toy. Me and my daughter are the best travel buddies.

Book Review- Option B by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant

I am a kind of person who needs good books to get motivation and feel happiness. Reading is the best exercise to destress the mind and soul and it brings unknown friends in our life." A book is a gift you can open again and again. The more we read, the more we learn.

So coming on the book. This book is  about finding happiness again after life plans something really miserable and unfortunate for you. It teaches us how to move on and show the world that nothing can stop you by finding your OPTION-B. It gives advice on how to handle grief, how to be with a person who is in deep grief and what role people around can play to bring a person out of the grief. This book is about building "Resilience".

The dictionary meaning of "Resilience" is the ability to be happy and successful again after something bad or difficult has happened. A major focus is also given on how corporates can help employees to restart their life after some unfortunate incident, which is the utmost need in today's time.

Gist of the Book- The book is on the story of Sheryl Sandberg's grief, the heartbreaking grief of suddenly loosing her husband while on a vacation and how she followed Option B to bring her life and her children's life back to normal. She shares on how to build resilience and find joy.

One strong push from the book is as follows:

" Weeks after loosing her husband, Sheryl was preparing for father child activity and she cried I WANT DAVE (Dave, her husband) to which her friend replied OPTION A is not available so lets just kick the shit out of OPTION -B.

Find your OPTION-B, life is never perfect and never stop for anyone. It moves on. Loneliness can be overcome if handled in sensitive way. Few snippets from the book. Excuse me for the art on the cover page, that's the modern art by my daughter :p. Thanks

Unwind Yourself at The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort Goa

Goa is the most popular tourist attraction in India. It offers rich heritage, tropical climate, lovely locations and some mind blowing beaches. When in Goa, personally for me it feels like I am in some other part of the world. I don't know why but I really feel so stress free and happy there. The beaches, the street shopping, good food make me so elated.

There are two major parts of Goa- North Goa and South Goa. North Goa is a happening place with lot of night life, water sports, street market shopping and its like full party vibe.  On the other hand South Goa is more calm, relaxing and quiet. Every time I visited Goa, it was North but this time my family (husband and daughter) was in mood for a quiet vacation. So we chose "The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort Goa". This resort is located on the RajBag Beach in Canacona Goa. It is one of the most beautiful beach resort in Goa. The resort in itself is a complete vacation spot. It has private beach, swimming pool, kids playing area, spa, fine dining restaurants, pool side bar and what not. The nearest beach to the resort is palolem beach.

From airport the resort is around 50-60Km and the taxi drive was quite tiring. We booked morning flight from Delhi, that was the best decision as the road to the resort was less crowdy so travelling in night is not suggested. It was like a drive on isolated road. So after a tiring drive we reached the resort. The first glimpse was a treat for the eyes huge property with so much greenery. At the reception, we were welcomed with a drink and beads string. Our luggage was taken to the room. The amenities in room include TV, bed, sitting area, spacious washroom with bath tub, a locker, a small fridge. We did not step out of the resort and spend our days mostly at the pool side and the beach side. The resort has 4 restaurants which serve different cuisines, the staff of the restaurants is very humble and cooperative. My daughter was taken good care by the chefs with all food whatever she wanted (fussy eater). What makes the dining experience more enjoyable are the singers who comes to each table and sing songs of your choice. We really enjoyed our stay , 4 days passed in a blink of an eye.  The best part for us was the kids activity/playing area which kept our daughter occupied So, if you are looking for a relaxed vacation with or without kids free from hustle bustle then this is the place for you.

Bugis Street - Singapore

Bugis street is a famous shopping district in Singapore. It is near Bugis MRT Station. It's a best place for finding souvenirs, trendy clothes, funky knick knacks. Most of the items are available in $1. This street has plenty of eating joints, exotic fresh fruits and juice stalls.
I ate some good ice creams too😀😀😀
You get plenty of combo deals in very reasonable price. I bought three tshirts, 3 souvenirs and 10 pair of earrings as combo and any many other fashion asseccories. I dint found the cloth stuff very interesting though. You can try bargaining but most of the shops have fixed price policy. Everything is cheap here, you name it and they have it.
I got so busy in exploring that completely forgot to take pictures of the street😛😜. Well check my other pics of the Singapore Visit.

Experience Bergen, Norway

Bergen is a beautiful city in Norway. It is surrounded with mountains, fjord and colorful wooden houses. So appealing for the eyes. Bergen is the second largest city in Norway and is as beautiful as some fairy scenery. "A scenic beauty" in few words.

I went Bergen in month of May, the perfect summer time. The summers there are very chilly and breezy for us unlike the summers in India and rain can be anytime of the year. I stayed in hotel Terminus located in the city center. It's a very cosy hotel with humble staff, good food and a very good location. It was my 3 night stay in this hotel and it went quite well. I reached Bergen on 15th May and that day I was too tired to go outside and explore, so only took a walk near the hotel. I had a  long connecting flight of 11 hours including the haul at Amsterdam Airport. So on 16th I explored the city center, and it's so cool. Small restaurants, colorful wooden houses and shops to shop till you drop. I bought so many souvenirs and same day attended a meeting at softeland. Softeland is a 40 minutes drive from the city center and is another scenic beauty. Then on 17th May I got to see the glimpse of National Day of Bergen, a treat to watch. Everyone get dressed in their traditional outfit and marching on roads.

When I was planning my trip, many people told me that it will be tough for me to get Indian/veg food since I am a pure vegetarian, but trust me I survived on good veg food and no hustle in getting it. I ate big burger meals, falafal meals sitting at Bryggen near the river side restaurants.

If you are nature lover, you cannot miss being at this beautiful city. So start planning your trip.

My next destination is London, will share my experience soon.
